Hi,

I    D O N ‘ T    K N O W    W H A T    T O    W R I T E .

Oh wait, I know. My name is Lewis Warren (or Lew if you prefer), age 17. Currently studying animation, games design and VFX on the NEXTGEN course.

For as long as I can remember I have always been engrossed in the world of creative media, usually spending my free time playing computer games, drawing or watching shows and movies of the animated variety.

At around 2007 I found a website called Newgrounds, which is a website that hosts games, animations, art and music by indie creators, and through it I have found many animators and developers who I have followed for years now, inspiring me, many of which have went on to create and work on big projects of which they are highly passionate for. Someday I hope to also work on something I can be proud of, whether it be in animation, special effects or games.

It wasn’t until 2010 that I began taking a large interest in the creation of the games. I owe thanks to a game called LittleBigPlanet (by Media Molecule), a game in which you can create your own levels, games or anything you’d like and share it with the ever-growing community. Since then I have been deeply interested with the development of games. Some current games I am looking forward to are Cuphead (a run-and-gun action platformer drawn in the style of 1930s cartoons by StudioMDHR.), Dreams (a game space in which you can create your ‘dreams’ or experience the community’s, whether they’re games, art, film or music. By Media Molecule.), Little Nightmares (a gritty, yet charming puzzle platformer by Tarsier Studios.) and many more.

I’m excited for this course because it gives me a chance to learn and use industry-standard software, so after the two years I will be prepared to start working on projects.
